Day 12 - Saturday
As most of the food was gone from the buffet, Fox and I had begun cleaning everything up and condensing what food remained to just a couple of serving platters and bowls. We were joking and laughing and having a good time and frankly it was way more comfortable to be out of the frey of the party and the crowd. Fox shooed me out of the kitchen, insisting that she could and would easily handle the rest of things. I honestly did want to help, if for no purpose other than to be there with Fox, but she said she wanted me out in the party, being seen.
“By the food, everyone will see me too.”
“I am just setting things up then I am joining the festivities. This stuff serves itself.”

The soft-pop melody of Mark Almond was broken by ‘NSYNC’s Space Cowboy, jumping the room into a whole other generation, a decade or so closer to the present where Saturday afternoon cascaded light and warmth in through an open window. Jules finished her sentence, dotting her final ‘i’ and crossing her last ‘t’ before answering her phone, connecting it with the room.
