Not really a big deal, but hey, if I can put it on bread and pick it up, I just prefer it.  I /can/ feed myself most anything.

Oh, good grief I am like afraid of everything!  But biggest, well, although I like some time by myself, you know, that is not really the same as being abandoned or stranded.  Oh, no!  I should have said I was afraid of the dark!  That would have been funny.  Can you go back and change that?  Yeah, okay.

Emptiness?  Loneliness? I mean, they all try, but like, sometimes, I need to be alone, in my room.  And that is good.  But sometimes, I may be with everyone - room full of people - and it is just so... I can feel more abandoned in a crowd than just left at home.  Stupid, huh?

13. What would you do if your hero and your worst enemy got together?

Oh, well, that is perfect!  Janet come and is with me and everything is cool.  Did you know she took me to a movie!?  There, in the crowded theater, and she held my hand the whole time!  It was so fun!  I mean, I am sure it is different for you, but she is right! Nothing smells quite like a movie theater.  She is awesome!  She takes the emptiness and fills it with herself and I am not alone.  So, I... that is the problem with the 'crush' thing, you know?  I don't know... I mean, I am sure I would feel the same for Janet if she was not the most awesome companion in the world.  I think I would feel the same if she completely abandoned me - I would still know her, and that is... Wonderful.  But she treats me so good - I can't imagine... so, what does that mean?  I mean, is it her, or what she does for me?  I don't know. I suppose I still have to figure that out.
Oh, and I should probably mention that I can talk a lot.  You may not have noticed, but I do sometimes.  Talk a lot, that is.

Oh, I would thank her.  I mean, yeah, sometimes we talk from time to time about stuff like Janet, Jules, and my folks.  I kinda think she likes talking to me, but I like talking to her too.  But then, I suppose I just like talking.

Taller.
Kidding.  Had you going there for a minute, huh?  Well, maybe not.  But seriously, though, I try to imagine all the things that other people do and everything seems so fun and exciting.  I have to dial it back, though, don't I.  So I think about things that I could do that would really make a difference, then I think about Janet and Jules and what they are getting themselves into - trying to make difference in the world.  You know, if I could just help them in some way, I think that would be terrific.  Honestly, if all I did was make it easier for them in any way, or safer somehow... That would be good.

I... I can't... it hurts to even try to imagine... If something, ANYTHING were to happen to hurt Janet - or Jules - but...  I mean, even with my mom and what she does... I should worry, but I don't.  Maybe just because I am used to it.  Sure, I get scared for her sometimes, but that it not the same.

You may think that first and foremost that it would be to see.  I don't know anymore.  There are so many things that are bigger than me to want and hope for.  And maybe - just maybe - I... *sigh* What if Janet wasn't interested in me if I was... normal?

Well there are not a lot of places I can go and really feel safe AND independent.  I'll just go to my room sometimes, you know?  My own space.  My own little piece of things.

Whatever, really.  I mean, sometimes it feels like everything takes me longer, so I am constantly doing something.  But then, it seems sometimes like I can't do so many things, so I am left with nothing to do.  So, I do school work and listen to music and listen to my father... I'll go outside on the deck and listen to the birds and the cars and the people, moving about.  It's a quiet neighborhood, but when things are still, I can hear pretty far.  It used to scare me when people would be running their lawnmowers.  I mean, so much noise.  But now I listen and smell the gut grass and, and, and the earth and exhaust and oil.  Okay, that last, it is not that it smells good, or anything, but it... well it completes the picture in my mind.  The more details, the sharper the image, you know?

I am really struggling with this for a few reasons, so I ma just going to start from the beginning.

I was never completely happy with the formatting limitations of just uploading text to dA, but it had not been that big of a deal.  The first time I uploaded literature as a PDF was because of size.

So, I thought that uploading in PDF would be a good thing because of the control and freedom I have with the page layout.  All good, right?

Well, it would seem that this is not a popular format for submitting.  I mean, even the smaller ones do not get many views - perhaps because of not having the "preview?"

This leaved me wondering - is the PDF format driving some readers away, or are plain-text uploads artificially inflated or otherwise misrepresenting the count?

I would really like some feed back on this because, well, I am at a bit of a loss.

I plan on keeping Fox Tale small and plain text.

I have been uploading the Sci-Fi one in PDF since #4 because, mainly, of size.  I would like to go back and re-upload #1-3 in PDF.

J&J series has some context formatting that would be much better in PDF.

Denver Colorado:

I have not seen all that much of Colorado in general, but this was not my first trip to Denver.  Denver is one of the few places where I think I could live if I had to leave home.

In a lot of ways, it reminds me of Anchorage or Fairbanks, but with, you know, sun.  Mum likes the south end of down town, down Broadway and Lincoln - oddly.  She like the bars and clubs and.... eclectic nature of it all, I suppose, though she is more of an Uptown kind of girl.  Dad would rather be out in the mountains, but as far as Denver proper goes, he likes the 16th street mall.  For my part, the mall is kinda pointless, but if I am going to me walking around one of the two, I would rather play tourist on the mall.
Given my druthers, I am partial to the west side.  Mariposa, Kalimath.... and Santa Fe.  They really make me think of, well, home ish.  Not home, exactly, but like more arty and familiar turf.
Granted, I did get to check out some really cool bikes on one little bit of out-and-about that I got to do (Turin Bicycles.)
I quietly commented to Mum about not expecting her to be fond of the area she likes.  This rewarded me with one of those "parental" looks, followed by, "How about if we have lunch in Cherry Creek before going to the airport."  Well, THAT was more like what I would expect her to like.  I recommended Cherry Cricket because the Aaron Sanchez likes it.  Mum gave be a patronizing sort of glare I did/do not understand and Dad laughed a little.  Unfortunately, I am not up to solid foods.
No, I did not fence.  I did not get to go to the awesome library.  I did not get to eat at any of the many sushi shops, though, at my insistence, Mum and Dad did eat at Luca D'Italia.  There were a lot of things I did not get to do while I was there this time.  I did ride in an elevator with some man that really does not like riding in elevators.  Mum asked, "Claustrophobic?" and he said, "No, just elevators."  I didn't say anything, but then, I don't.

I hope to go back sometime other than an urgent trip like this.  I would like to see another concert at Red Rocks.  But then, I would be okay not leaving home.

I was talking (e-mailing) with a friend of mine on the subject of my fiction.  It boiled down to a desire to take my SciFi series [link] and make it into a webcomic.  Well, yeah, sure, that is cool. If I has any drawing skill at all, I would have done this.  So, he wants to find me an artist, etc, and set this up as a sort of commercial effort.

Well, I want it out there, as a comic - a manga, if you will, but I do not know what that would really do to the work, handing it over for something like that.

I really wish I could just do it my self, or at worst, just work with an artist.

I do not know.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Unrelated to any fiction I have done to date, I uploaded a "stand alone" short call Costume Party

It is an experiment, I say, because it is not the stuff I really want to write, or am into and whatnot, but I was trying to work with topics, actions, and well vocabulary and idioms that I am unfamiliar with and uncomfortable with.

I am hoping it will free things up with the other fiction I am writing - the serial stuff - because, sorry to spoil things, Jack, but they will not be going to this place, as it were.

Here it is:

I set a goal for myself.

I have started a third fiction series that I plan on keeping in 1k to 1.5k "episodes" or vignettes that I will post every week.  See, I have a history of mot posting anything for a really long time, then *bam* a piece that takes forever to read, for what it is, as evident by my other stuff.  I mean, I may start out on the right track, but then get buried under the work.

So, over the past few days I am about 14k words, or more importantly, about 10 episodes into this and am torn between editing and keeping moving forward to see what happens next.  But I have a goal for myself to have #1 posted Friday.  And I suppose I am in good shape for the next couple of months, as long as I keep ahead.

As for the other two, I will still plan on spending time exploring the sci-fi one, but those may still be larger, and less frequent submissions, and for J&J, well, I have almost as many notes and scraps as stuff I have actually posted - all because I am a little torn on what direction they need to take.  I think that this third piece will help me get J&J onto track and moving once more.

Of any of them though, I thing the Sci-Fi one is most likely to get pulled and put into one piece of work.  I think it has the most defined future.

I do hope to also put up some stand-alone flash-fictions.  We will see.

"I realise that it has been a very, very long time since you were in ninth grade, but yes, even once a year is often when changing schools."

One day while in the hospital, they took me around and kinda opened my eyes to some things.  It shaped me.  I could say that had I not done what I did for which I was put in the hospital, I would not be the person I am today.  So, that would be like saying the best was also the worst and that is just not right.  I mean, really, to diminish what happened then, and all that was gone through, would be an injustice to too many.

Uh... I wear more 10-12T than anything else.

So, I was /this close/ to posting J&J #11 and realized that I did not like it.  No, let me take that back, I liked it, but it did not really work with the characters.  It was... out of character.  So, #12 is getting promoted to #11, but completely re-written.  This is the problem with trying to write all linear like this.  I was working on #12 after drafting out what would likely be #14 or so and I realized that #11 really did not fit - it just was not right.  It was fun, but getting scrapped.  There are a few things in there that will need to go into the #12 (new #11) rewrite because they need to happen, but it will be better this way.

I am both excited and scared of this new, up and coming chapter and both can't wait for time to post it, and hesitant. Oh, well.  The girls are growing up.
